Kansas G Buford gets diversion for DUI

LAWRENCE, Kan. (AP)—A second Kansas basketball player has been given a chanceto wipe his record clean of drunken-driving charges.

The Lawrence prosecutor’s office says 21-year-old Chase Buford must pay $802in fees. He is not allowed to consume alcohol or drugs for one year and mustundergo substance abuse treatment.

The junior guard from San Antonio was pulled over early on July 11 inLawrence. Authorities say he refused to submit to a breath test.

Last week, teammate Brady Morningstar was placed on diversion in adrunken-driving case stemming from an Oct. 3 traffic stop. He also was suspendedfrom playing in any games during the first semester.
